The First Produced Stella Scooter

In the early 1980's I lived and worked in Athens, Greece. I bought an old Vespa from a neighbor. I got it running with parts from the UK and was hooked. I drove 14 miles daily in heavy traffic; splitting lanes.. and like an idiot...never wore a helmet! When I returned to the US later that decade I found that Piaggio had abandoned the US market ten years earlier after a couple of protracted legal battles. I decided to start a scooter parts business. I spent months at a time in Italy lining up parts deals and old tooling with small companies that made all the parts for Piaggio; some back to the 1940's. I got together with an old friend in Texas who was the former president of the Cushman club. I helped him start a parts business and together we started a national scooter club to collect addresses for our new businesses. The parts business, Scooterworks USA, was an instant hit. We produced great catalogues and sold enormous amounts of parts and accessories worldwide from all our new suppliers in Italy. I visited Piaggio's factory several times and became good friends with Giovanni Agnelli, who granted me the rights to import all their parts and new scooters as well. Giovanni, the young CEO, passed unexpectedly of a brain tumor and his replacement ignored our agreement and filed a lawsuit against us for being one of over 100 unlicensed 3rd party users of the Vespa trademark. We proceeded to protect ourselves with a unique strategy and settled after nearly 3 years of lawyering. I went to India to visit LML with the ex-president of Piaggio and made a deal with them to Import the Stella. It was a hit. I gave the new network of dealers terms for stocking the first wave of imports and they sold out immediately. Building Genuine Scooter Company was pure fun. The joy ended in 2014 when I moved on to pursue other interests around the globe. The Stella #1 was used to make our advertisements; all shot in beautiful black and white. Proofs from that photo shoot will accompany the scooter. It is a great American success story of passion and the relentless pursuit of building a great little company. Ride it or just hold on to it. It will not depreciate!

This attractive Vespa Sprint was first imported from Europe un-restored in 2019. For the last several months I preformed a full restoration from the ground up. The Vespa runs perfectly with a completely rebuilt engine. Most everthing was replaced in the engine with the exception of the original engine cases. The electrical has been upgraded from 6V to 12V with an electronic ignition. the Paint job is flawless, painted by a professional painter that has been painting vintage cars and bikes for 30+ years and the color is an original Vespa paint color. Please reach out for more pictures and a complete list of all replaced parts . I am happy to ship to any State, the last Vespa I sold I shipped to Hawaii.

One of Lambretta’s most unique models in good condition with massive patina that accentuates the originality. The special blue/green paint color is a distinctive touch. Bodywork is complete with all badges and trim. There are few dents and dings and some minor surface rust, but overall this classic wears its age of over 50 years quite well. Mechanically sound and ready to ride, starts, runs and goes pretty well indeed. Introduced after the forward thinking 200 SX, the Series 4 offered classic styling and proven mechanicals, but was very old school and only around 1,400 were ever made.Super rare today and a holy grail for Lambretta collectors hoping to showcase the full line.Dated as it may have been when introduced, the Series 4 was a proven machine and makes for a great addition to any Lambretta collection.
